Health Insurance Coverage and Financial Responsibility?

My daughter's employer allowed domestic partner coverage on their insurance plans, so my daughter covered her boyfriend while they were living together. He still owes money on the bill. Is she responsible for payment because he used her insurance? The hospital is telling her that she is responsible.

Because she's listed as the insured, and he is her dependent, they can look to her for payment. They should continue to bill him, if they are no longer together. Some type of paper document indicating they no longer share financial responsibility should be acceptable to the hospital; as long as she can provide information concerning how to contact him. If they press her, and refuse to collect the debt from the actual patient, the other guy is right, small claims court.
if the bill is in her name she owes the money..if it was in his name then he will owe the money.
If she's listed as the guarantor (main policy holder) on the insurance, then as far as the hospital is concerned, she owes the money. HOWEVER, she can sue him in small-claims court for the money. Chances are, she'd win.
