Insurance.?
What would insurance be for a 16 year old white male, clean driving record, good grades, and would be driving a 2000 Chrysler Sebring Limited? What if he got his parents to put it under there insurance that they were full time drivers, and he is a part time driver?
You need to call your parents insurance agent. Nobody can tell you how much your insurance would be.
It would be cheaper to go under your parents policy. However, The title would either have to be in their name (your mom or dad) or they would have to be co-owners with you on the title.
The other thing is going to be how many cars and drivers are in your household. In order to be listed as a part time driver which would be less expensive you would need to have more drivers than cars. In other words if there are three cars and three drivers the company will not rate you as part time.
Again, call your parents insurance agent. I'm positive that he or she would be happy to discuss the ins and outs with you.
very expensive, your young
That depends on the company who is insuring the 16 year old.
The best way to find a good rate on your auto insurance is to shop around with a few different independant agents. That way you can get the rates of many companies with just a few phone calls. Starting with your parents agent is an ok idea, but if you arent already listed this may make it happen sooner.
A few things need answers first:
1. What state do you live in
2. Who owns the vehicle
3. What coverage do you want
The best option is to add your son as a driver and the vehicle to be listed on your policy. 2 ways to save a little money would be to have your son take a defensive driver course and if he has a 3.0 or better. Most insurance companies offer discounts for both. Also, if he is listed as a driver, he would be covered to drive any vehicle on the policy, as well as you are to drive his. It makes more sense to add him/his vehicle and then for him to get his own policy at 18.
The BEST OPTION is to speak with your agent or insurance company representative.
